![]() The boat captain is usually quite friendly and talkative giving a great narrative of the tour, but this time we had a quiet guy who didn't say much. They let you swim around for about 15-20 mins. It's completely safe and a wonderful experience. I highly recommend swimming if you can as that is what this tour is all about. On the tour a couple guys will be on the boat and will be taking your pictures while you swim (should you choose to). The "bar" at the boat launch is very understocked, basically rum punch with the cheap stuff and nothing else. They have a gift shop there where there were actually some good deals I should mention. Next time I'm going to skip the meal and just go right to the boat tour. I mean come on, they are out of strawberry daquiry mix? And every other mix? Doesn't know what to put with vodka? Seriously? The menu is quite simple and the same items every time I go. There is a fine dining restaurant there, but the bar is severely understocked and the bartender doesn't know how to make anything, or doesn't have the stock to make anything. Should you go? Absolutely, but the amenities have gone downhill in the past few years. It is close to where I stay, not too expensive and certainly a once in a lifetime experience that you will never find anywhere else. I highly recommend going and if you do, definitely go with the intention of swimming and forget the camera! Just enjoy the moment with your loved ones.I have been here 5 or 6 times now. There wasn't anyone there to take pictures for us, like some others mentioned, which was a bummer, but there is no way I am going to forget what it looked like, so it's okay. Another person tried taking pictures with his phone, but they didn't really show up either. We brought our GoPro into the water, but when we got back to the hotel to look at it, we realized it didn't pick up any of the luminous lagoon. The water was so beautiful and there were clear skies the night we went so you could see all the stars. If you are going to go on this excursion, you have to swim in the luminous lagoon!! Life jackets are provided if you are not a good swimmer or are scared, but if you are not going to swim, then I don't think it would be worth it. There were some people from our group that just stayed on the boat. Our captain drove our boat into the middle of the lake where we had quite a bit of time to swim. Once on the boat, we were offered soda or rum and soda. Our group was guided to get on the boat before it was over, but I don't think we missed much. ![]() When the sun started going down, they had an amateur dancing and entertaining show. There was also a tv where they had a video from a Damian Marley concert playing. We ordered some rum cream and the best coconut rum cake I have ever had! Although it was a bit expensive (~$20), I would buy the rest of that rum cake and forget the rum cream if I go again! While we waited, there were chairs in the grass where we could sit and chat. There was also a bar to order drinks and food while we waited for it to get dark enough to go on the boat. We took a bus to the Rock Wharf where there were locals setting up tables to sell their handmade items. Along with the adrenaline-filled excursion we went on the day before, this was our favorite part of our honeymoon! We booked the excursion to go here through our hotel Bahia-Principe with Scubaquatics. ![]()
